small french provincial style buffet

The previous owner had taken the two doors off to make open space cubbies and I kind of like it that way.  We stripped down the top and stained it a nice brown, painted it with linen gray, lightly distressed, clear and dark wax and ready to go!

Anthropologie Inspired Dresser

I had a lot of fun with this one just experimenting.  We think it is a handmade dresser, there are little quirks about it, but I think that really add to its charm!  It has been painted a duck egg blue, lightly distressed, waxed in clear and then a brown glaze put over.

As soon as I saw this piece I knew I had to pick it up!  It did need quite a bit of attention.  Also one of the pulls was broken so I did need to replace it with new glass knobs...I think it turned out pretty well...it will be listed on Craigslist today.  Email or call if you are interested.

Just picked up this pretty piece...it has told me it would like to be duck egg.  Thinking the back paneling old white??  Be back in a couple days with after pictures!

Black caned sofa table

This pretty little piece just need a little bit of care and she was ready to go.  I should have done a tutorial on the silver leafing.  I need to get better at remembering to journal the process and not just the finished product.

The finish was chipping off and very uneven.  I did a little sanding in a few areas to smooth out the finish.

She got a good coat of a spray paint primer and then several coats of glossy black.  When painting caning I always use spray paint...I can't imagine the drips if you were to brush paint on.  

The 2 glass pieces were nice and thick with a great bevel on the edge, however it looked like a child had driven matchbox cars all over it or keys and such were tossed on top.  It was so scratched.  To keep the cost down a bit I brainstormed a little and remembered seeing on pinterest that Krylon makes a mirrored spray paint for glass.  Our Home Depot did not carry it, so instead I remembered that I had silver leafing in one of my art bins from way back and dug it up.  It gives it an aged, antique sort-of mirrored look and hid the scratches pretty well because of the uneven treatment.  Good compromise.

I just loved the turned legs on this piece and the classic caning seems to be so popular again.

another one finds a home

Well, this nautical looking, beachy dresser has found a home!  A little white paint, distressing and furniture wax and it was ready to go.  This one was a pretty quick transformation.

This was a solid piece, extremely heavy!  I just loved the hardware on it and almost kept it for that reason.  I thought it was suited to have a coastal look.

I was a tad sad to see this one, but in about 6 hours after listing it on Craigslist it was picked up!  A cute young couple came and my husband said they seemed happy...I will admit, it was not my best piece, sort of a quick turnaround...it needed a lot of help on the top stripping and staining, the front was like a strange hard plastic design attached to the wood.  Regardless the design was pretty great and I am a sucker for unique hardware and this one definitely had that!  It is actually a creamy ivory color...looks pretty white in the picture, with a dark stained top.
